I just got mine this last week and wore them for the first time today and they are my favorite jeans I've ever had. They are so soft and comfy and very flattering (but, I do think you have to have the right body type for it).
Current/Elliott fits a lot of different people's shapes, but of course, not everything is for everybody. I'd encourage someone whose skeptical of the style on their figure to try a few different brands who have Boyfriend jeans before giving up!
